Girl Talk: Are You Loving Yourself? #LevelUp

levels

Last week, singer Ciara posted a snippet of a sermon from John Gray and added the caption of #LevelUp. Lots of single women were in their feelings about it so Ciara followed up with this post.

Honestly, there comes a time when you have to re-evaluate your life and decide if you want more or if you are ok with where you are in life. It doesn’t really matter which side of the spectrum you are on, there is only one answer and that is to love yourself.

By loving yourself first, you learn what you like and don’t like. You learn how you would like someone to talk to you and how you don’t like for someone to talk to you. You learn that even though mama may have liked for it to be this way or mama tolerated that, that you don’t have to do what or deal with what the other generations dealt with.

Never forget that you teach a person how to love you. And how you teach someone to love you is what you accept from them. And a man will honestly do whatever you allow him to do to you. But sis, if you don’t know how to love you, how can you teach him how to love you?

We make all these posts about #selflove but self-love goes deeper than exfoliating, moisturizing, and pampering. Self-love is when you really take time to look at your life and get honest with yourself about how you are living and who you are letting in and out of your life.

Self-love is about going deep inside yourself and breaking down walls that you have built up, repairing your heart from all the damage that you have let happen to it, and recovering from all the past hurts and pains that have come your way over the years.

Self-love is learning who you really are and what you really like or don’t like. If you were not influenced by others around you and social media, would you really like the things that you like or do the things that you do?

I understand what she means when she said she was looking for perfect love. We get in these relationships and expect men to be who they are not or who they have not yet grown into being. There are a lot of men that are trying to figure out life just like you are but we get in a relationship and expect them to be superman when they barely know themselves.

I hope you get to a place of loving yourself not the social media way, but really loving yourself.
